A Critical Review: Teen Garage Bands Unleashed.
    CLAIM:
Most garage bands will never succeed past being a garage band.
    EVIDENCE:
Tracy Young the second women to be interviewed says, “ I think they want to go somewhere with it and that’s why they start it but lets face it everyone wants to be famous as well.” ETHOS. When Tracy makes this statement she is saying that she thinks most bands start to become famous but also to maybe play music to help deal with problems. When the author asked how home life is for the members of the band the guy interviewed revealed that many of the members weren’t totally connected with their family or had step members in the family. PATHOS. Many music artists in the world today also act such as Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, The Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez and many more. Because all these music artists already started out as actors or actresses they have already been seen so it’s easier for their music to be advertised. The two women also state that they believe music helps with many of life’s difficulties. Even though many garage bands may start a band in hope of becoming famous if they don’t members of the band and the lyrics of the songs can help support them through hard times

A Critical Review: Teen Garage Bands Unleashed
Most age groups have the same opinion on teenage bands and why they are created. In this documentary, Ellen McKay, Tracy Young and Kylie Young all stated that if they were to have a band as a teenager, they would sing pop/ rock music and they would be the lead singer. The interviewees said they would like to be the lead singer because it’s “fun and expressive,” this author being a teenager would prefer not to be the lead singer because that would be too stressful and more embarrassing if you messed up. A survey this author took of high school students on if they would want to be the lead singer, bass, guitarist or drummer of a band and 13 out of 30 students said they would want to be the drummer because it isn’t the biggest, most focused on part of the band but it is still important. People of different age groups don’t realize that most teenagers don’t like to be put on the spot in fear of making a mistake but when you’re older than a teenager or younger than a teenager, you don’t care as much.
Secondly, Tracy Young, when asked why she thought teenagers started bands she says she thinks they want to go somewhere with it but also because they want to become famous. Tracy thinks teenagers use music to help deal with problems, this author agrees. Teenagers often listen to music or play music to help forget their problems or to cope with their problems. When we, teenagers, are feeling happy we listen to upbeat music, when we feel sad we may listen to slow paced sad music that relates to our life.

    Teen Garage Band Critical Review

Teen are positively affect by have bands or being musically involved. The number of teenage garage bands is always growing. Everyone wants to be part of a band. They want people to think that they are awesome. Being in a band give the teenagers a group that they can fit in with. Bands usually form because the people like each other or they have similar interest with each other. Different bands will create different type of music depending on what they are going through at that time. A band that is having a great life at that time is going to create music that sounds different from and band that is going through a rough patch in their life. Teens like to use music as an escape from their every day life; it gives them a chance to be like some one else or be some where else. Teen bands with often write songs that express what they are going through. It is makes them able to express how they are feeling and get other people to support them. It is easier for teenagers to express there feeling thought music than it is to express those feelings. Creating music brings out feelings inside of people that they never knew were there. Being in a band is good for teenagers; it gives them a group of people that they can hang out with and be accepted by and it give them and creative way of expressing how they really feel.

A Critical Review: Teenage Garage bands Unleashed

Most garage bands will never succeed. Most teenagers in garage bands really have no passion for what they do. Therefore, their band will not succeed, but the very few that do will succeed. The very few teenage bands that play today are so successful because they’re the very few with so much passion. In the documentary a garage band was interviewed. One of the members of the band was asked why they wanted to be in the band and with a reply they said, “Just because it’s fun I guess.” Many other teenage garage bands are the exact same way. To succeed with a band the members need to have passion for what they are doing not just do it because it’s fun. When the same band member was asked what makes them want to perform they replied with, “ Basically just because I’m not good at much other things and everyone’s like you have a knack for this so I’m like fine I’ll go for it.” This shows that there is no passion in the band member much like other members of teenage garage bands. In the documentary a fifty nine year old was interviewed, she stated that she would be the lead singer. When asked why she said it seemed like more fun. In garage bands this is the exact mentality that will get them no where. The lead singer is not what makes up the whole band. It’s believing that every single person in the band is important and together you can do something amazing. Not only does she think that it would be the best choice but so does an 8 year old. This shows that everyone who does not really have passion for their band just wants to be a star.

    Teen Garage Bands Critical Review

Teen Garage Bands are an expression or outlet of certain emotions and feelings for certain people/groups. Some teens form music groups because they enjoy music and want to pursue it as a career. For others, they may form music groups because they feel pain, anger, or any emotion they want to express or burn out. As stated in the documentary, all four members of the band members are facing problems with their families in some way. “Devon lives with his grandparents... Dustin’s parent’s are divorced… Chace is adopted…” and with as much as Ricky said about his folks, it indicates that he may not get along with his parents that well. It seems teen bands are formed be an outlet for certain emotions and to express feeling to everyone whether happy, sad, angry, depressing, romantic, or any other emotion.

Teen Garage Bands: A Critical Review

Most Garage bands are just a way to relieve stress, not a serious commitment. When teenagers join a band, they most likely do have the intent to pursue a dream in music, and one day become famous. However the chances of this actually happening are pretty slim. The aspiring musicians deal with a great amount of stress on a daily basis, teenage life. With school, home life, family and friend drama, music can often be a way to express one’s feelings and relieve quite a bit of stress. One of the interviewees, Ricky, said that he mainly wanted to create a band because it was fun. When you’re having fun, you’re not stressing out about the things going on in life. Ricky also talked about the family lives of each of the band members, and although they were all different, each member seemed to have a great deal of stress at home, due to non-stable house holds. Playing music, for these guys, seems to be an outlet of the feelings they have to hold inside the rest of the time. The reality is, even though the members of garage bands hold great talent, it is unlikely they will stay together, let alone become famous. So playing in the band, is just an expressive way to hang out with each other and get rid of some stress.

Teen Garage Bands: A Critical Review
Teenage garage bands don’t depend on your backgrounds. As shown in the documentary, kids of all different ages and backgrounds can join to make a garage band just because they think they have talent and can make it big. Some of them may just want to leave home, but I don’t think that’s the case with the people in this video. They all think that they can go somewhere with it. They all believe that they are the best of the best and that they will get a record deal and become the most famous people in the world. They don’t realize that the chances of that happening are one in a million. But they have the faith. Who knows, maybe they can make it, but most likely not. I know a few people that want to be famous and their dreams are quite farfetched. I have dreams of becoming a Broadway star and even that is a ridiculous dream right now, because the chances are so slim. But maybe it’s the dream that makes it come alive.

    Garage Bands
Claim: In America music is growth throughout the youth and because of this garage bands are growing as very and you see this case more and more. This is one of the most uprising activity that the kids do in American now.
Evidence: In the first interview with Ricky he said that we came together as a group and decided on a few things about are band and wanted to to be as a group. This is great because probably the number one problem that you see in the big name bands is that one member of the band thinks that he is the most important member of the band and he thinks that he can call all of the shots. In return either they break up or that member leaves and becomes and solo artist. LOGOS 32 % of all no name bands break up before they make it to the big time (www.essortment.com). I feel like that's so high because those bands tried so hard and keep getting denied and they just quit, or one of the members think something is wrong and start making complaints and they end up quitting. There are great pros for being a rock star but there can also be a lot of cons such as you lose relationships with close friends and family just like Ricky said in his interview that some of his band members donut have very strong relationships with their family. PATHOS In the music industry most of the bands are gone 24/7 and the only time they can see their family is at concerts or at holidays, so I can see how this can happen. It would be tough to do that to your family but if it's what you love then you have to make some sacrifices right? All in all this digitals documentary was shocking to me because I didn't know that my peers had so much talent and it was a great way to show that to the world.

Teen Garage Bands Unleashed documents the journey of being in a band as a teenager and the advantages it has. In many scientific experiments, music has been shown to have various benefits. For example, http://stress.about.com explains, “This can help prevent the stress response from wreaking havoc on the body, and can help keep creativity and optimism levels higher, bringing many other benefits.” Anyone who has strummed a guitar or sang along to the radio at the top of their lungs knows the emotional outlet music can be. Don’t you feel much happier and lighter afterwards? The student in the documentary also mentioned the goo Plus, students participating in music generally earned higher grades in high school and higher scores on tests like the SAT (http://www.johnmastro.net). An example of this is the author of this review is a junior in high school and has been in music programs since the fourth grade, she has a 3.75 gpa and high hopes for college- a common story for music students.

While most teen bands are formed because of a shared love of music, most people can agree that a band is one of the best stress relievers for teens. Life in America is very fast paced, and everyone has many responsibilities, even teens. Teenagers have to do what can sometimes be hours of homework each night, and also sometimes have jobs or other extra curricular activities that they must focus on. The most common thing among teenagers is that everyone listens to one form or another of music, which is why it’s a great stress reliever. Music can set the mood, a dark song might make you feel sad, while a happy song will probably allow you to be in a good mood. Listening to music is one thing, but forming a band to play music with friends and share with people is a very fun and interesting thing. Being in a band helps you take your mind off of things and relax.

  11. After watching this documentary, it made me want to not become apart of a garage band. The claim was that being in a garage band is a lot of fun, but aslo takes a lot of work. Sometimes you have to work wilth people your mad at, and that is not always the best situation to be in. The evidence was given from interviews that people took of people and teens that are or were in a band. They said that it is always really fun to do concerts and hear the crowd yelling for more. They aslo used use Logos as their evidece as their reasoning. They have a lot of facts and great interviews. I like the music that was played. In the beginning i said that i dont want to be in a garage band, and that is because i dont think i could be stuck in a small garage with really loud music for hours, burning my ears away. Plus i have stage fright. However, the ones who do love being in a band, that is great for them, and i hope they have fun. This was a great document, and it definitely caught my attention.
